Elated to speak at the Radio Festival 2018 in central London
15 May 2018
I am truly elated to have spoken at the Radio Festival 2018, organised by the Radio Academy.
With the British Library full of radio executives, practitioners and experts, I replicated my speech on equality and diversity, alongside Molly Keyworth and Megan Hayward. We first performed the speech in April in Salford.
The Radio Festival 2018, which brought together speeches, discussions and interviews was hosted by BBC 6 Music presenter Lauren Laverne. The day was brimming with talent with BBC Radio's Charlie Sloth and Jeremy Vine talking about radio in a new digital age. Absolute Radio presenter Christian O'Connell, leaving the station this week, was presented with a Gold Award by the Academy.
The day also was witness to a poignant moment in radio history when hundreds of radio stations around the UK broadcast a special 'Mental Health Minute'. In addition, former Labour leader Ed Miliband, new to the world of podcasting, presented a weekly episode of Reasons to be Cheerful with fellow host Geoff Lloyd.
