An enjoyable morning talking to students at the University of Salford

Today I enjoyed delivering a two-hour workshop for final year TV and Radio students at the University of Salford, based at MediaCityUK.

Back at the campus from which I graduated four years ago, I talked to students about my developing career and advised on how they can battle social anxiety to find a job that suits them.

After reflecting on the last four years which has seen me work for a number of BBC departments and independent production companies, I talked about strategies to overcome challenges when researching for media, for example taking phone calls.

During the session I had a chance to circle the room and talk to students about their individual projects, offering thoughts on how they could produce the best possible work. The morning ended with a Q&A which saw me take questions on my career and making it into the industry.

A big thanks to Mick Farr for the invitation to come in and chat.
