Sharing my industry experience with students at the University of Leeds

Today I spoke to media students at the University of Leeds about working in journalism after a diagnosis of neurodivergence.

As part of their Media Futures series, I reflected on my career, experiences at the BBC and producing a variety of content on autistic people. I also promoted the work of my Neurodiverse Media Community group.

The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021 placed the University of Leeds sixth in the UK for communication and media studies. Also offering degrees in film, digital media and journalism, they host a range of specialist facilities and software to support learning.

I really enjoyed talking to the students at the university. Kate Watkins and her team are doing a great job in preparing students for a career in the media and I hope the event helped inspire neurodivergent students to pursue their dreams. Their Media Futures event are exactly what students need for inspiration.
