A great experience camera operating final year TV Studio projects
16 April 2018
Over recent weeks, I have enjoyed camera operating on a number of third year 'final projects' in the University of Salford TV studios at MediaCityUK.
Gaining experience behind the lens, I have been helping students record television programmes, marks of which will contribute to their degree in Television and Radio.
Each filmed over the course of a day, Fit Tips, Come Out and Play and Eco Heroes were programmes developed, prepared and produced by Simon Little, Fran Adams and Molly Sales respectively. They maximised a total of five studio cameras to each produce over 20 minutes of content, in facilities equivalent to those used in industry by the BBC, ITV and Sky.
The programmes were a mix of genres ranging from fitness to music, quizzes to environmental health. Producing his first studio programme at the university, Simon said of Fit Tips, "I felt mostly relieved that everything had run smoothly. I was constantly waiting for something to go wrong! Thankfully my amazing crew and contributors pulled through on the day!".
Molly's Eco Heroes programme encouraged a growing respect for our planet. It featured over ten young people from the Didsbury Drama School aged between 7 and 11. She explained "liaising with so many people throughout the production process was tough but the day was relatively easy because everyone was well prepped and prepared."
