Delivering diversity and inclusion training at Nottingham Trent University
29 November 2024

I have today delivered diversity and inclusion training for broadcast journalism students at Nottingham Trent University.
Discussing representation, interviews, bias, accuracy and audiences, the training also gave students real-life case studies to get to grips with ensuring their newsgathering is both responsible and ethical.
Reflecting the nuance of diversity and inclusion in the modern world, the session covered details such as balancing creative writing and sensitivity while addressing negative stereotypes of minority groups, who are often drained from repetitive narratives.
It was pleasure to join course leader Gail Mellors and her students in Nottingham. Their Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism is a wonderful place to deliver such important work on ensuring all audiences feel represented within news content. I'm excited to see what Gail's students go onto achieve.
