Honoured to be speaking at the Nations and Regions Media Conference
12 April 2018
I am honoured to have been awarded a spot on the bill as a speaker at this year's Nations and Regions Media Conference at MediaCityUK.
Addressing the role of radio in the 21st century, I will present alongside two other students from the University of Salford, who also applied to speak at the conference, now in its 24th year.
This year's conference will be hosted by BBC Radio 1 presenters Katie Thistleton and Darryl Morris and will be attended by radio producers, presenters and commissioners from the BBC, commercial and indie sectors. The conference will be a day of showcases, discussions and debates covering music, documentaries, drama, comedy, children’s and other genres.
The Conference was started in the early 1990s by former chairman of Granada Television David Plowright and the University of Salford. Its aim was to become a platform for the media industry in the nations and regions and now has become a popular annual event attracting industry professionals from across the UK and the world.
Beth Hewitt, Director of Nations and Regions Media Conference at the University of Salford, said: "There will be high profile keynote speeches and of course the return of the popular Meet the Commissioners sessions, where independent producers from around the UK get to discuss their ideas with leading media industry figures."
A video of my speech will be posted on this site after the event.
