Today filming concluded on the production of Inside Our Autistic Minds, a new two-part documentary series coming soon to BBC Two.

It's been an incredible nine months making the programme, in both Manchester and London. The series will see four autistic people work with creative teams to produce films illustrating the workings of their mind.

Filming across the country, I've really enjoyed helping to showcase my community on screen. Autistic stories deserve to be told by autistic people and from day one the BBC team have been incredibly accommodating to both myself and all who will appear in the series.

It has also been an honour to work with Springwatch presenter Chris Packham, who himself is autistic. For years, he has spokenly so openly about his Asperger's diagnosis and it's been great to work with him and get to know him.

My role will now shift from assistant producer to post-production consultant, which will help ensure that the series accurately reflects the autistic community. It's critical autistic stories are told in the right way and I'm very thankful to the BBC Studios team for offering me this new role.

News about transmission of the first episode will follow in due course.
