The BBC's landmark documentary series Inside Our Autistic Minds, which I helped produce, has begun airing tonight on BBC Two.

The first of two episodes saw comedian Flo open up to her mum about autistic masking and non-speaking Murray, son of radio DJ Ken Bruce, script a powerful message about those who cannot talk.

In the episode, now available on BBC iPlayer, presenter Chris Packham also explores why women are often under-diagnosed as autistic and some of the techniques available to help communicate with those who cannot speak.

The Telegraph were one of a number of newspapers to give rave reviews. They said the "programme did a great job of showing the rich inner worlds of two very different autistic people." On Twitter, @ankothtybi said it was the first time in almost 40 years he'd seen anyone like him represented on TV.

It was a real honour to work as an assistant producer on this remarkable series. Being autistic, I was very aware of the responsibility of representing our community. While these are just two people's experience, I hope it gives perspective as to the huge range of autistic experiences.

The final episode of Inside Our Autistic Minds airs on Tuesday 14 February at 9pm.
