Tonight I have been presented with the University of Salford Alumni Achievement Rising Star Award at the Create Student Awards 2022.

The ceremony was held tonight in Salford to recognise the achievements of the School of Arts and Media. It was a real honour to be acknowledged in this way and formally thank the university for its support.

The university says "the Rising Star Award aims to recognise the success of a recent graduates who have made great leaps and bounds since graduating." Before I received the award, a short film was played, looking back on my first four years since leaving Salford.

In my speech, I said "I'd like to dedicate this award to all the autistic people who are sat in their bedrooms currently with an abundance of talent but apprehension and anxiety about whether they will ever be able to full their potential in a neurotypical world."

I also thanked all of those who have helped me in my career thus far, including my parents, partner Andrew, friends, lecturers and mentors over the years. I believe receiving this award is testament to the potential of autistic people.

You can watch me being presented with the award here.
