This morning, I reported on Radio 4's Today programme, exploring potential nationalisation of the railway from Manchester Piccadilly station.

In a first appearance on the esteemed speech-focused station, I set the scene of Manchester Piccadilly before introducing a series of views from members of the public that I'd recorded earlier.

First broadcast in 1957 on the BBC Home Service, Radio 4's original name, the programme is one of Britain's most popular morning radio programmes, delivering audiences with news and current affairs. It is produced by BBC News with data in late 2023 showing it had an average audience of 9.1 million listeners a week.

It was a huge honour to be approached to broadcast on such a prestigious programme. To report right round the corner from my flat was rather surreal and, despite the early start, it was an important and interesting story to cover, that lead the day's news agenda.
