My preferences
Thank you for visiting this page.
You may or may not know: I am autistic and live with ADHD, both confirmed by medical professionals.
I am generally very relaxed and easy going, though I do tend to be a people pleaser.
There are a few areas I would greatly appreciate additional consideration.
-
Burnout: The media is known for its long hours, and when fully engaged I can go for days on end. However, the constantly varying pace can sometimes send my ADHD brain into overdrive, leading to burnout. With clear communication regarding schedules and expected hours, I am able to engage fully and perform at my best.

-
Memory: ADHD and autistic masking often affects my ability to maintain focus so my memory can be affected during face-to-face conversations. I find it helpful when important discussions are recorded or written down, such as via AI, voice recording or collaborative notes, so I can refer back to and stay fully engaged.

-
Language: I do have a sensitivity to medicalised language around neurodiversity and I do not always like how strongly I focus on it. Like many autistic people, I prefer terms such as 'autistic' compared to 'autism' and strongly believe it can be possible in every discussion to use only that identity-focused word. My language guidance document below outlines this in more detail, though I am not expecting perfection.
